July 19th 2026 Psalm 45 v 1 - 6
V 1 My heart. There is no writing like that dictated by the heart.
Is inditing a good matter A good heart will only be content with good thoughts.
Inditing, may be read "overfloweth," "boileth," or "bubbleth up," it is signifying the warmth of the writer's love, the fullness of his heart, and the consequent richness and glow of his writings.
I speak of things which I have made touching the King……This song has the King for its only subject,
and for the King's honour alone was it written. Good material deserves good workmanship
We should mean our heart's loves and our mind's meditations any prayer or poem in which we speak of one who is so great and glorious as our GOD
The psalmist wrote of what he had personally tasted and handled concerning the King. (His God)
My tongue is the pen of a ready writer Not meaning SPEED but as exactness, explanation, discussion, and skillfulness of expression
The speed of words from your mouth far exceeds the speed you can write them, so a thoughtful writer slows down the words of his mouth so that he can get the full meaning he wants to express
but here the writer speaks as correctly as a practiced writer; his words are not short-lived sentences.
V2. Thou. It is as if the King, (God) himself had suddenly appeared before him, the psalmist turns to address the Lord. A loving heart. it has the power to understand its purpose in saying these words. The eyes of a true heart, they see more than the eyes of the head. Jesus often reveals himself, and comes closer to you when you are showing your affections towards Him. It is usually the case that when we are ready Christ appears.
Thou art fairer than the children of men. The Hebrew word is doubled: "Beautiful, beautiful art thou."
Many people trough the ages have through grace been lovely in character, yet each one has had a flaw;
but in Jesus we behold every feature of a perfect character in sweet proportion. Beauty and expression make a person majestic when they are united; they both live in the perfection in Jesus. It pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell,
Grace is poured into thy lips remember Jesus was human when here on earth so His Father poured Grace into Him and now grace is pouring out from Him. The testimony, the promises, the invitations, the love of our Jesus
Whoever is in personal communion with the Jesus and has listened to his voice will say that "never a man spake like this man."
Therefore God hath blessed thee forever. Jesus is blessed by God, , and this is the one great reason for his beauty, His rare gifts from God are given to His people
V 3. Gird thy sword upon thy thigh. Why should the sword of the spirit lie still, like a weapon hung up in an Armory? It is sharp and strong
The words to our great King ( Jesus) is urged to arm himself for battle, by placing His sword where it is ready for use. Jesus is the true champion of the church. David became champion of Israel, when fighting Goliath. BUT JESUS fought a greater enemy (Satan)
O MOST MIGHTY A title well deserved by Jesus. …./.Jesus is the truest of heroes. With thy glory and thy majesty. Let thy sword win thee power,
V 4. And in thy majesty ride prosperously.
The hero and king armed and with royal robes is now asked to ascend His triumphal horse.
One day Jesus our Immanuel will come forth in the chariot of love to conquer our spiritual enemies and seize the souls whom He has bought with blood. Because of truth and meekness and righteousness. Truth will be mocked, meekness will be troubled, and righteousness will be made fun of unless God, comes to save us all.And thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things. The psalmist prophesies that the uplifted arm of Messiah will reveal to the King's own eyes the terrible overthrow of his foes. And out of His mouth a two edged sword will be reviled (hated)
Jesus needs no guide but His own right hand, no teacher but His own might;
He will teach us all of what He can perform,
V 5. Thine arrows. Our King is master of all weapons; He can strike those who are near and those afar off with equal force.
Are sharp. Nothing that Jesus does is wrongfully done; He uses no blunted shafts, no pointless darts.
In the heart of the King's enemies. Jesus aims at hearts rather than their heads, and He hits them too.
Whether for love or vengeance, Jesus never misses aim, and His arrows cause a wound which only He can heal. Jesus' arrows of conviction are sharp.
Whereby the people fall under thee. The slain of the Lord are many when Jesus leads on the war
Nations, tremble and tum to Him when He shoots abroad his truth.
V 6. Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever. To who can this be spoken of but to our Lord Jesus?
The psalmist cannot restrain his LOVE His open mind sees the church God reigning for ever. Blind are the eyes that cannot see God in Christ Jesus. He reigns on a throne which will never pass away
No throne can endure forever except that on which God Himself sits.
The sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. He is the lawful monarch of all things. His rule is founded in right, its law is right, its result is right. Even when He breaks His enemies with a rod of iron, He will do no one wrong: His vengeance and His grace both conform with justice. so we trust him without any suspicion; He cannot DO WRONG; no affliction is too severe, for He sends it;
no judgment too harsh, for He ordains it.
