Psalm 41       the work of the Messiah

V1 Consider the poor  ( the weak and sick )

Jesus always did --- BUT not the Scribes and Pharisees, they were for self-preservation. No thought for any ill person, they were looked down on as sinners

BUT The Lord will deliver THEM

V2 prophetic  The Lord will preserve Him

Jesus life was preserved       Died yes -- but   Resurrected  Yes,  the only way for our sins to be forgiven

Blessed on the Earth

This is Seen in His ministry -    dead raised --    many healed --   loved by the people –they listened to His stories and parables,  no one ever spoke like Jesus with care and love

Not delivered unto the will of His enemies   He is able to resist Satan’s temptations

Delivered to the Romans, but death could not harm Him, in fact He conquered death.

V3 Strengthened as He awaits death        --   not my will but thine be done

His Bed in sickness   he is laid in the tomb sick with our sins, but the 3rd day resurrected

working with the sick  --  those sick with sin

in time of trouble Jesus is with us helping us through the worry and concern

V4

Jesus was Sinless, but became sin for us, taking our sins on his shoulders there on the cross

Jesus became sin   on our behalf as He bore our sin on the Cross

Lord heal my soul  He cleanses all sin by the shed blood on the cross

V5  Mine enemies speak evil of me

They will speak evil of Jesus, the scribes and Pharisees urged the people to hate JESUS

Jesus showed up their evil ways, and their wrong doings, so they were out to destroy Him

the enemy are the scribes and Pharisees  When is He going to diewas all their thoughts.

Jesus was showing up the false teachings of the Scribes and Pharisees that they spoke about.

And they were really angry

V6   When on the Cross they came and mocked Him

A)   He trusted God let’s see if he saves him now

B)   Save yourself come down from the cross

HOW WRONG COULD THEY BE.  Jesus had to be crucified as a sacrifice for our sin

Rumours are spread abroad by unbelievers trying to cause harm to Christians just as they did with Jesus

V7 against Me do they devise my hurt

they always planned to kill Jesus, they were really jealous of His not being one of them.

How could He be --   He was the opposite to all their teachings.

So, there was a need of a betrayer.     They could not just arrest Him in the street

The people would not let them arrest Him, they loved His teachings

V8  now he lieth, He shall rise up no more

This blasphemer is dead, and will no more trouble us.   They laughed, they had won

Who is dead????????

V9   mine own familiar friend        Judas Iscariot

Jesus knew who would betray Him, but he was treated like any other disciple.

He was at the table in the Last supper together

But let this also be a warning for us to beware unless we betray Jesus

V10 raise me up Lord.   He was Sinless because HE WAS the sacrifice

That I may requite them

Return to avenge my death,   not by hatred and harm  but by LOVE AND FORGIVENESS.

The normal soft going life of the disciples was about to change, they needed to fight.

But what with……. The message of forgiveness and salvation.

V11 My enemy doth not triumph over Me

Satan knows he is defeated, that is why he is determined to take as many as he can with him.

His temptation is really strong, and only Jesus can help us through this temptation

Satan is finished,    he has no more power over me  (us)

ONLY IF WE LET HIM HAVE

V12  Settest Me before Thy face forever

Jesus returns to heaven and His rightful place to sit on the right hand of the Father.

V 13 Praise will be to God forever because of His mighty act.
