Colossians 1 v 1-14   (4th in our Advent series)

You are God’s Gift to the World.   Did you ever realise that you are God’s gift to the world?

He planted you on the earth like a precious flower to share the beautiful scent of Salvation with the people in the parched desert of life around you.      He has given you as a gift to the souls in need.

He expects you not only to brighten the world where you are, but to bear the fruit of new souls into His kingdom.

It is not a difficult task to do when you allow the Holy Spirit to work through you.

You cannot do it of yourself, and God doesn’t expect you too. That is why you have the Holy Spirit in you

The people around us need to feel that we can help, to give them hope in a hopeless world.

The daily newspapers and magazines in the shops all look at the despair that people are in.

Newspapers don’t want good news it does not sell their papers.

The black side of things draw us in. …….People are worried about the things they read…..Violent crimes

Unemployment……Poverty …..Suicides    a great many of our young people,  now children are starting to do it          What hope have they got

Alarm bells must start to ring in the Christians ears

People have no hope.    They need to find a purpose in life, and this can be found in Jesus and His love for us.       We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

Hebrews 6 v 19

Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil.

God is calling us to share the hope we have with the souls in danger about us

God has chosen you and me, as His gift to the lost world, asking us to share His eternal love with those about us.

I know you have a love for God,…..I know you want to work for Him….I truly believe that God is calling us to go that next step further,….  telling those about us of the hope of Salvation.

It is a precious message that we have been given not just for ourselves but those around us

Keeping this message to ourselves is VERY SELFISH  AND RUDE TO OUR NEIGHBOURS

How can we do it?

How can we find the words to say?

God knows you better than you do yourselves…In His intimate knowledge of your special talents and your limitations, …He knows the best way for you to win souls….He does not expect you to be something your not. …

Not everyone is an evangelist, gospel singer or a street corner preacher.

He asks you to be yourself and be a gospel witness

Witnessing in your daily activities , shopping, walking the dog, just going for a stroll.

Wherever you are be ready to give someone HOPE.

LET PEOPLE SEE WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT YOU.

When they sense the interest you have in them, often they tell you all the problems they are having.

You may have gone that way yourself,….and show them a way out.

Your testimony of what God has done for you is the work of the  Holy.Spirit. let Him use your words to bring hope to someone.

You are God’s gift to a lost world

After all someone spoke to you about Jesus  or else you would not be here

Give back something you were given

Befriending people is a wonderful way to witness

People begin to trust you.

Because of the blunt approach that some give,… it only puts off people.

Often they think you are crazy, there is something wrong with you.

This is how people with religious mania behave.

God wants us to love people, it is the way God works in peoples lives The casual way is always best.

Befriending or giving tracts, or in normal conversations carries more weight

There are times of blunt approach, but this must be guided by the Holy Spirit.

V 9

Praying for people is another approach

Always remembering you in our prayers.

But for the work to be blessed a word of witness must take place at some point

There are many ways of telling others about Jesus, because without Him we are lost.
